    What he said ^^^
There are a few issues with wheels that wide to negotiate.
Most important is offset. There no use if they don't fit.

Lookin at pics on google don't think they would fit but all depends on the offset but fronts might fit with spacers and rolled arches.

found out the offset of the alloys yesterday and they are et25 am i right in thinking that these wont fit without arch mods as i am fitting some escort cossie alloys which are et25 to my mk4 escort cab and i have had to do some major mods to the arches.

you may need to have the arches pulled and rolled or are the g60 arches a better option??

mk2 Golf ET is 35-38 as standard. You can go down to 28 without issues.
If you are running serious lows, then you need to look at arch rolling/trimming and mild tyre stretch.
I have an arch roller for hire in member services

I had 8x15 front and 8.5x15 rear on my old mk2 with 195/45/15 tyres.

ET's were 15 front and 3 rear with G60 front wings and arch trims and G60 rear arch trims and rolled arch's.

    On my old 20v mk2 i was running 7.5x16 ET 35 with 195/40/16 tyres.

    Also had some 7.5x17 ET25 with 195/40/17

Should give you an idea of ET's and tyre sizes.
