Thread: 2.0li GTI 16v Jetta

    Wink 2.0li GTI 16v Jetta

Hi, thought Id create a page on here for my Jetta, Haven't been to a meet in a while as the cars been stored for a good 3 years but the finishing touches are just being done to a 2.0li conversion so hopefully ill make a meet in june / july!

The car started life so I'm lead to believe as an unmarked cop car, a standard 1.8li 16v GTI, so when i picked it up it had done well north of 150000 miles but there wasn't a spot of rust on the car, it had been well looked after but it did have a number of blemishes that warranted a paint job, mainly scratches and the odd dent, so I had it painted in its original colour.

the mods I then did to it are as follows:

    VR6 calipers and disks (front)
    Leather door cards
    new rear lights
Rallye grill and lights (converted to HID with Audi TT insides)
    BBS RM Splits
    mk3 style door handles
    Smoked indicators
    fog lights
electric windows all round with corrado control box
and of course now the 2.0li 6a engine with a polished and ported head

I tried to keep everything as OEM as possible I wanted it to look like how it should have come out of the factory which I hope I achieved.

here are some pictures over the years

The day I picked it up (september 2007)

here is is just after I got it painted

and here it is after i fitted the HID's

still needed lowering at this point tho!

here it is with the coilovers fitted

and below its running with the new engine

Seems a little lumpy but ticks over great and started first time, It has all new VW parts (headgasket seals etc). Its a 2.0 6A form an audi 80 with all new bearings, piston rings etc and its fitted to a KR head form the man in the shed (ported and polished) with KR Cams etc. Its basically like a brand new engine and im really looking forward to driving it.

the car itself has been stored in a dry garage for the last 3 years so is really in need of a clean, doesn't quite look itself covered in dust and wearing a set of dirty AZEV A's as I get the BBS RMs re polished. I know it Looks really unloved but its going to come up like new when i clean it.

Here are a couple more pictures of the conversion, watch this space for some more photos when Ive given it a tidy up!
