Don't be sorry i hated the colours also ,that's why the wheels went within a few weeks of having the car ,and its having a full spray job ,

Don't mind the wheel colour but just not with the red car.

What colour is it going to be when resprayed? Staying red?

Worth it though. It's all in the prep (apparently - never done it like haha ).

    Re: My mk3 gti 8v

Howdy all long overdue update :- first let me put up a few pics to refresh where i was ,

Refured rear axle ,new bushes , brake lines, disc pads ,bearings ,new compensator valve and new dust shields ,

Delete of wiper and badge hole on the boot .

Have given the car it's initial rub down and repaired the rear arches,
Now comes the bit i was dreading , inside the fuel filler flap had rotted pretty bad as Wrighty will confirm,so have been doing this in bits and drabs over the past few weeks.

Fist pic is of the fist look at what i was dealing with .

    Crusty lol

Cut out the top skin to find it even worse behind.

Ground that out and made a plate to weld in ,then seam sealed it up .

Then it was time to weld in the replacement panel that i got off Mart (cheers mate ).

after i bit of fettling and drilling for spot welds inside,it went in very nice.

This is the finished result after a few days of filling /smoothing /filling sanding lol.Very pleased with it.

That brings me up to date ,will be doing the body sanding and any filling next.
