A whole stack off new stuff!

Took a ride out today and stopped at the "cat & fiddle" up on top of them there hills for some light refreshment and as we were leaving a whole convoy of left hand drive, German plated audi's and vw's arrived all with some sort of telemetry kit on the dash, all with a number in top right hand corner of window.
also from what I could see all the guys with these motors were all wearing Audi security id's?
I counted 12 cars in all most were a hybrid motor, and there was a varied range including,
    A3,
    A6 hybrid,
    A8 long wheelbase hybrid,
    A4 saloon and a avant,
    Q5 hybrid,
    Passat,
And a really odd looking golf, looked like a cross breed between a mk6 and a rover streetwise, jacked up plastic arches and few bits that looked like they were just stuck on!
Also with them was a jag XF and a BMW 120d what part these were playing I don't know?

Ideal location for road testing must be a pre planned route
