Right then, my lad has just got a skateboard and loves it but to be honest it's really poor quality so I want to get him one from eBay but don't know what I'm looking for.
Any help for this would be good, he is 5 years old.
Also seen as he is having one I thought I'd get myself a used longboard to have some fun on but again I don't know what's I'm after and need advise

I miss my boarding days....
As per your PM, a longboard LB may be the way forward, rather than shortboard SB.
With a LB you're talking wheels of huge diameter and durometer (size and hardness) wheels compared to a SB. It'll roll VERY well, even on terrible tarmac which we're plagued with here in Stafford.
You saw mine, it's only 40" by 9", which is a great all-round board for downhill, cruising, dancing and bowls. Depends on your use.
Downhill -- Symmetrical design, wide wheel base for stability.
Cruising/commuting -- Any style board, really, shorter usually = quicker turns for slalom-ing pedestrians.
Dancing -- A very long, wide board for board walking tricks.
Bowls -- Very short board with quick turn patterns, bad for high speed as shorter = less stable at speed.
If you wanna buy British, go Lush Longboards (like me!), otherwise you'll be paying more or even importing (Loaded Longboards, Original Longboards, Landyatchz etc).
I don't know what else to put... I hope this helps though!!!

Thanks for that, will i need a certain size due to my weight/height? 6'3" and 16.5 stone
Looking at the lush site it seems there are a few boards that decent all round.
Just noticed that most of them have max weights of 14st! Is this going to cause me a problem?
How does this one look?

Has anyone else gone from snowboarding to longboarding? If so how did you find it and did you pick it up quite quickly?
