    The Cycling Thread

Thought perhaps a seperate thread for bike related stuff would be better...hijacked the GPS thread a little!

Anyway, these are my 2 rides...

    my road bike

Only had it a couple of weeks, loving it though!

My 'proper' bike, Commencal Meta, had it 3 years. It's been through a lot, it's like an old friend now

One of mine (taken a few years ago now so it has a few random parts fitted now)

Got no photo's of my other one.

Lol cheers Dave, nice rides. Stinky's are ace. Which GT frame is that? Always hankered after a Zaskar in my youth...

It's a GT Aggressor Elite, built to take a 140mm fork.

I had a GT years back and it took some huge abuse so I got another when I wanted a hardtail (got fed up of dragging the stinky around xc trails)

The stinky has been used and abused since I got it new in early 2007, most parts have been refurbed or replaced with other random parts. I'll try and get another recent pic soon, it looks cool now it's a bit battered. Better than all these brand new downhill bikes you see on uplift days with people who don't want to scratch it pottering down the trail

    Re: The Cycling Thread

Don't get me started on these folks that 'molly coddle' their bikes. My Meta is hammered, don't get me wrong, it's very well looked after but not scared of picking up a few knocks.

Thrown it down the freeride trail at Llandegla and some of the DH runs at Stile Cop as well as epic day rides in the Peaks. Just hope the frame holds together a bit longer lol.

The GT's nice, I do keep thinking about a budget HT build using bits off STW & E-bay. Maybe one of these days!

The GT only owes £700 ish but it's a really good spec build, got the forks really cheap off ebay from some eastern european country - brand new but 2008 old stock.

Took about a month or so to source all the bits.

It's a bit of a hard hitting hardtail though and isn't ideal for pure xc but i wanted it set up for hammering the downhills more than climbing

A big camp would sound cool and prob be a bit more secure with more chance of someone being around.
