    Another project............T3 this time

While the forums been down i would like to say I've been busy working on the bay, but you know how it is something always pops up to divert one's attention and money

    So this is it

A 1990 T3 panel van, was offered to me for 500 notes complete and very solid just requiring an engine..............how could i refuse

So after giving it a good going other a plan was formulated and a on the road date was set for November with a debut at the bus freeze/dub freeze/autobarn whatever it's called show at stafford show ground in november

After stripping the crap homemade camper interior out, work started
Brakes were first a new calliper, front pads, wheel cylinder and a couple of brake pipes got the brake pedal nice and hard once more
A couple of part worn van tyres were chucked on along with a couple off the bay
A second hand instrument panel, some relays and a battery had all the eclectics fully operational

I've found a couple little welding jobs to do before MOT time, which I'll sort once its running again

So with pretty much everything sorted, i started to look for an engine

Which after about 5 seconds i decided to fit this

which with the van being water-cooled would be quite easy to fit

A call in to see Rich at RJES in cheadle on the way to have a day shooting with sparks saw the jetta loaded hop with a load on conversion goodies
A new bell housing to mate the engine to the original gearbox, clutch kit, water pipe kit, some brackets and a new accelerator cable

Once the box was removed the new bell housing was fitted

And that where I'm at, been away on holiday for the last to weeks sunning myself drinking free beer with the wife and kids in Tunisia

But now I'm back hopefully the wiring loom and modified coolant pipe that i dropped off before i went will be ready for collection for RJES and the engine support bar will be back in stock
Then i can start installing the scooby lump

150bhp in a stripped out panel van should be pretty frickin cool

    Re: Another project............T3 this time

Not much to report for this week
Still waiting on a few bits from RJES should all be ready in a couple of weeks

So over the last few nights got the fuel pump mounted, still can't decide where to mount the filter (either next to the pump on the chassis rail or in the engine bayErmm)

I also had a play with my new hole cutters
Rust had taken hold around the fuel filler so the previous owner had cut out the rot and put a flat plate in with the thinking of fitting an alloy filler cap
So after picking up a filler cap i set about fitting it

64mm hole drilled in the wing and 6 holes for the bolts

and with the filler cap, looks ok me thinks

while i had the drill in my hand, another hole appeared on the rear bulkhead for the scooby loom

Next up for tomorrow is fitting new steering rack gaiters and track rod ends
