    Wolfsburg or bust

    Sooooooooooooooooooo

@whereufromnosecity and I have been sinking a couple of brews this evening and conversation eventually returned to a subject that tugs me towards the mainland- a trip to the Fatherland and the birthplace of Volkswagens. I'm serious about doing the trip and kind of spawned the idea of wondering if any others on the forum would be interested? Journey appears to be 531 miles door to door, return ferry crossings around £130 (Harwich to The Hook) and then however much fuel it would require.

Sound like something to make a group event?

People will need Passports with a min of 6months remaining on them.

Items which must be carried in the cars
    - HiVis for each person
    - Spare Bulb Kit
    - Warning Triangle
    - First Aid Kit
    - GB badge on the car (number plate or on the rear)

Nice to haves are European recovery (Greenflag/RAC/AA)

Typical Prices would be along with camping costs, ferry costs and fuel costs

Approx. costs per person per day -

Food - allow 20 euros per meal ( a meal for 2 tends to come in around 40-60 euros inc drinks)
    Alcohol - Beer - 5 euros a pint (large) 3 euros 1/2 pint (small)
Soft drinks - can of coke 2 euros
Snacks - Crisps - 1.50 euros per bag same with chocolate

Safe bet is 100 euros per day

Doesn't it? The idea is to camp to keep the costs well down and perhaps coincide with one of the Dutch VW shows

    Re: Wolfsburg or bust

Planning begins in earnest on the 30th then I was thinking June 2014 to keep out of the school holidays price-wise, route through Holland isn't the shortest but looks the simplest. Best discussed over a frothy brew I reckon
