Thread: Rear wheel out by 1 inch

  1. #1

Question Rear wheel out by 1 inch

Hi all I have a mk 4 golf gti. Looking at my rear wheels and the nearside sits an inch further in than the offside?? The camber is the same I think and just have bbs Montreals on, the standard wheels. Any help or suggestions appreciated, don't know where to look now? I have had a new axle fitted in hope it could be that but its still the same

Was everything in order prior to the new axle being fitted?

Might be worth checking the alloys and making sure they're all the same width- unlikely but someone at some point could have swapped in a different sized wheel- details are normally stamped on the inside of the alloy. I'd have thought an incorrectly mounted (straight) axle would have an equal amount of displacement on the opposite side. With the wheels off might be worth seeing if there are any spacers fitted.

All mk4 axles are actually off centre but only by about 5mm ,1" sounds a little excessive ,good shout with an odd wheel offset sparks,mk4 beams bend easily but if the camber is the same then I doubt it s that
