Thread: Just a heads up.

  1. #1

    Just a heads up.

So last night at about 8 o clock i get a knock on the door. Answer it to be greeted by a bloke who says his white mk1 caddy was stolen 3 weeks ago and that my red caddy is in fact his that i have repainted red. He asks if he can look around it to see if its his. After a while i reluctantly let him have a gander and he says that it is his car. Has the same bent floor pan from being jacked up wrong, the fact that it used to be white and that it had a couple of repair panels welded in the bed. He got in his car with his two mates and sped off. Police were called and they came round told and told me to stick it the the garage.

Now, my caddy does have a dented floor pan from being jacked up wrong. as do a lot of them. It did also used to be white. Although this was changed by the previous owner when he did it it before i bought it and is stated on the log book as being red. It was bought in november 2011 from a bloke down in bedford.

A short while later this bloke has come back with a log book for an E reg white caddy, mines a H reg, and is stood talking to the policeman outside my house. I have to get my caddy out the garage to try and sort things out. A traffic cop then turns up to sort it out. Checks all my details, log book, MOT's all history i have, ebay history from when it was bought etc. and as expected everything all checks out that it is legitimately my car and hasn't in fact been stolen by myself and repainted. Yet this guy is still adamant that my car is his that was stolen.

Police told him that they were happy that my red caddy was mine that i have had since november last year, and that he should forget about my car being his. Then he left muttering something about getting proof. He was a local bloke from around talke and could well have seen my caddy driving round that way.

So anyway this is just a heads up to everyone to either watch out for someone claiming your car isn't yours. Or to look out for a white caddy thats in good condition thats been stolen.

The bloke could have been genuine about his truck and i know i would be devastated if mine went missing. Or he may not have been. I have my opinions but its not for me to say. If the bloke is on here i'm sure he can put his side accross give us info about his stolen caddy.

Mine had a damaged floor too where the jack lifted... it was white... did I steal it from him some people....

There is an orange and black one in Talke parked on the main road... I wonder if he has tried it with the owner of that one?

I'd keep an eye on it over the next few days just in case they return...

The bloke came from talke. Dont really know much about his caddy though. He just seemed to pick the faults with mine and say his were the same. Bent floor. Repair patches in the bed. Said he had fitted a new bush to the passenger side wishbone. His was a 1.6 diesel.

Where abouts is this white one?
