    Re: performance petrol vs performance diesel

    i think diesel will be the future of performance cars in the long run with audi and peugeots domination in lemans and most touring cars being dervs in the last few years its got to be a matter of time before a diesel engine makes it in to F1 WRC or a diesel bike?????

    Diesel motorbikes have been around for a number of years now....

    Diesel in an F1 car would ruin the sport completely... they would have to reduce the engines HP by a 3rd in order for it to be reliable.... it would be like watching truck racing... clouds of black smoke everywhere!!!

    but the lemans audi are pushing 500bhp no problems i bet it could be done easy and with F1 being on one fuel stop these days some teams must have been looking at diesel technology

    There is no contest really.

    Derv = daliy
    Petrol = performance

    As much as I can appriciate a good derv with there good MPG ect. The only reason that some dervs go well is due to them all having turbos fitted as standard so can be easily tuned. Petrol turboed cars are miles ahead.

    Plus all dervs sound like tractors no matter what you do to them.......
