    Turbo modification

My question is - Is it possible to just fit a turbo without hoses, wiring, etc. If not, other than dropping a TDI engine + everything else that comes with it, what else can I do?

    Re: Turbo modification

I have a 1Y engine which I am rebuilding and was thinking of fitting a turbo to it but unsure if it would work without the hoses and any wiring. I know it will need the oil feed, but can I just get away with doing that. Alternatively it would mean sourcing the top half of a TD/TDI which at the minute I don't really want do.

    Re: Turbo modification

I'm 99% sure the 1Y block is the same as the AAZ (TD) but thinking about it the fuel pump must be different.

There is no extra wiring for the turbo just the oil feed and return pipes.

Although I have a TDI 1Z Golf here that you could buy for cheapness.
