    Mk3 Golf 2E engine

    Changed the engine and put all the parts from the old engine onto the new. Have got no power at all since sparks started flying at the earth strap on the gearbox earth and the earth by the coil. Moss Moores in Burslem have had it since last friday and think the ecu has gone down. ANY IDEAS PLEASE............

    It is very like your digifant ecu is toast, very common when you get earth problems.

    ECU tested band is ok. The only thing that is different is the engine. The ECU, clocks and ignition/immobilisor are the original. What else could be wrong?
    Problems are
    1. engine will idle but no prower on excelleration.
    2. excesive amount of fuel entering the cyclinders

    Idle Control Valve/Stabilizer

    It controls the idle on the 2E
    1996 Golf GTI 16v

    No i haven't. The garage that have it said that they will be doing a fuel presure test due to the excesive amount of fuel being burnt. I'll tell to look at the ISV next. keep you updtaed. Cheers

    It would appear to the the fuel pressure causing the problem. 3 bar at the pump and 3 bar (should 1 bar) at the injectors. The regulator is faulty so will now have to source another.
